The power of Faith
What is Faith ?
Faith, in general terms, means believing in something even when you can't see it or prove it right away. It’s having trust or confidence that something is true or will happen, even if there's no solid evidence yet.
It’s like saying, “I can’t see it now, but I believe it’s real or possible.”
A farmer plants seeds and waters them every day. He believes they will grow, even though he can’t see anything happening at first. The belief that the seeds will become crops is faith.
Let me give another example, A child waits at school, knowing their mom or dad will come to pick them up. They don’t see the parents on the way, yet he or she trust they’re on the way. That trust is faith.
What is Faith in Christian home?
In Christianity, faith means complete trust in God and His promises, even when we don’t understand what’s happening or can't see the full picture.
The Bible (Hebrews 11:1) defines it this way:
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
It’s not just wishful thinking. Christian faith is rooted in believing in God’s character, His Word (the Bible), and His plan for our lives, even when life gets confusing or hard.
Why Must a Christian Believer Have Faith?
Faith is the foundation of the Christian life.
Christianity is built on believing that Jesus Christ died and rose again. Something we didn't see and can’t physically see but we believe by faith. (Romans 10:9)
Faith connects us to God. Without faith, it’s impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). Faith shows we trust Him, just like a child trusts a parent.
Faith gives strength during tough times.
When things don’t make sense, faith gives us peace and hope. It helps us walk through sickness, loss, fear, or confusion knowing God is in control.
Faith leads to action.
A true believer doesn’t just say they have faith, they live it out through love, kindness, obedience and courage, even when it’s risky.
Why Is Having Faith So Important for a Christian?
Faith is how we are saved. (Ephesians 2:8)
Faith helps us grow spiritually and brings miracles. Jesus often said, “Your faith has made you well.”It keeps us from giving up even when we’re afraid because we believe and know God is still working.
Final Thought:
Faith is like cooking a pot of Jollof rice, you can’t taste it yet but the aroma fills the room and you just know it will be good. You keep stirring, adding ingredients and waiting, because you trust the recipe and the One who taught you how to cook.
Just like the Bible says in Hebrews 11:1,
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
You may not see the final dish but the smell is enough to believe it’s almost done. That’s faith. Trusting even when you can’t see it, but you believe it’s coming.
Jesus loves you!
